Yes, we are alive!

Hi all! Just checking in to tell you we have been having a very fun summer. Lots
of camping, fishing, swimming, barbeques and late late nights! The kids have grown so much.
I am excited for the next season to come. I love the season changes and the cooler
evenings have been a nice break from the hot days. It hasn't been as bad as last year
with it only reaching about 40 degrees celsius. We have pictures still on the camera so more
to follow later-
Oh ya!
Monday I was asked by Bishop to speak in church today on the topic of "Seek ye the Kingdom of God" found in the Book of Mormon Jacob chapter 2 verse 18 "But before ye seek for riches seek ye for the kingdom of God". I also used the scripture from Matthew 6:33 where it says "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God...". I had a nice week pondering this subject and studying about it. The talk seemed to go well and I felt the guidance of the spirit as I tried to deliver a message that Heavenly Father wanted me to share. Speaking in church is always intimidating at first, but a great blessing too.
When Ryan and I were in medical school our Stake President gave a talk once about the five first we should practice in our lives to keep the Lord center of our thoughts; first, the first Sunday of each month we fast; second, the first tenth of all we earn goes to the Lord (tithing); third, the first reading we should do each day is in the scriptures; fourth, the first person we should speak to each day is the Lord in prayer; and fifth, plan temple attendance first each month before other social activities. I also felt like addressing the youth and encouraging them to live lives that are worthy of having peace through seeking good music, entertainment, and appropriate attire. Anyway, I hope that the Holy Ghost was able to testify to individuals on how they can improve their daily lives and seek the kingdom of God first. I learned a lot about how I can be better and rid myself of unnecessary burdens that detract from my path to our Father in Heaven.
Anyway, it was a good Sunday even though Ryan was on call and made it to just a few minutes of sacrament meeting to help with the kids while I spoke. What a great guy!
