Why Mom's SHOULD NOT

NAP!

So now that we have 9am church we have had many more hours to "rest" on our Sabbath Day.
This Sunday Ryan was on call so he made it to sacrament meeting and then home for a quick lunch and back to the ER.

THE STORY:
The children were playing very well on their own in the basement...I was a little sleepy...so I decided to lay down for a quick snooze...

Brooklyn came in a few times to show me her name she had written, to snuggle a bit, and then the boys brought their toys up to the sitting room. I was somewhat awake, but trying really hard to ignore the children. Then Brooklyn came up to me and said, "Look, Mom, it's short"...I am thinking WHAT is short? Then my eyes popped open in horror as I realized she had been cutting her name out of paper! What did my poor eyes behold?! A three-inch strand of her HAIR! As I shot out of my sleeping position and ran my hands through her hair I could see the many new layers she so creatively chopped through her beautiful golden hair!!!! Now don't be to harsh on me...I didn't yell, I didn't spank, I didn't even ask why. I just combed my hands through her hair and cried. Then we walked into the kitchen to view the scene of the crime, which manifested that indeed hair was all over the floor and the little blue scissors right beside! The more I cried the more she wrapped her little hands around mine. The more I cried the more she caressed my blubbering face. I called Ryan at the ER and in muffled sobs told him the news. He was so good and said, "She did? Oh, and it was getting so long and beautiful". Yes, indeed it WAS. But he handled it well and said it would be okay and I knew it would. Then Brooklyn so tenderly said to me, "Mom, I won't ever cut my hair again". (I hope you are catching the drama I am trying to throw into this little scene).
This is just an event that, really, I knew would happen. So now that it is over-good! Lesson learned and maybe I will just take this opportunity to chop her hair off in a cute bob for awhile. It will grow!

But I have relearned my lesson that Sunday naps are very very bad for me!

Doesn't that have to happen at least once in every little girls lifetime? I would have done the same thing you did. My husband cut his eyebrows and eyelashes off the day before his kindergarten pictures! His mom couldn't do anything about the eyelashes but she did use an eyebrow pencil to color in the missing hair! How fun to be a parent! Love ya! Lisa

Aahhh, Tonya! I hear ya! Way to go on not "over-reacting." I would cry too-- I have never cut my girls' hair yet and Alana's is to her bum! Isn't is unbelievable what they do when no one is watching? It will grow, and you will always have this memory that will be funny one day! Add it to your book of your experiences as a mom! :) Amanda

I agree where are pictures!? I never did that........only once I mean :) I was pretty popular with the sissors, which was ironic that I didn't want to go to hair school? I guess it's only fun when you're not supposed to do it :) love you...
