quote from Ryan Torrie at 10:30pm June 29th.
Last night we were finishing up on filling the basement with gravel when an angel arrived to assist us. We have been renting a skidsteer to move the gravel around and Ryan still had to put more in the floor. Anyway, he was running between his high hoe and the skidsteer. My friend Janna's mother and her boyfriend came out to look at our progress. We really don't know him at all, but Ryan has known her since he was in high school. That has nothing to do with the point. But this guy just happened to know how to run a skidsteer REALLY WELL and hopped right in to help Ryan out. The two of them finished the job in about 40 minutes when it would have taken Ryan at least two hours! He acted like it was no big deal, but I told them they were an answer to Ryan's prayers! We would have had to keep the skidsteer for another day and it cost $300 per day to rent! THANK YOU! Cookies don't really say how wonderful this was.
THEN we decided to run it back to Hi-way Service around 9:30. It is pretty slow going, and about half way there I saw it jerk a little, puff out some smoke, and then Ryan stopped. He tried to start the engine again, but he was out of diesel. No big deal right? WRONG! For some reason when the machine ran out of fuel it decided to shut down completely and Ryan couldn't put the bucket down to open the door! He was totally locked in! So he calls me on his cell phone and tells me he has to phone our friend Kyle who is a heavy duty mechanic and our other good friend Mark who is a farmer to help him out. Now if it would have been me I would have been crying because we had the kids up later than I wanted and would have been thinking the worst when I heard the train go by just ahead. "What if he would have stopped on the tracks"? AH! Although I do think it was a blessing he ran out of diesel where he did, I know I can go overboard with my emotions! That's just how I am, but not Ryan, he was laughing like crazy and had the guys take this picture of him on his iphone! So again, cookies can not show my appreciation more.

Yeah those skidsteers can be tricky!! I'm glad he's okay and you didn't have to pay an extra $300 for another day! :) Although it would have been a funny picture to see you in the skidsteer, crying :)Love you sis
