How dumb is DUMB?
I wonder how I do it sometimes...How is it that I can allow such amazingly avoidable things happen to me? I was supposed to be at church by 12:30 to practice a song for Ward Conference next week. Clothes were ironed and primary music prepared Friday, dinner was in the crock pot by 11:30, and children fed right after. (Of course Ryan was on call). I only had to warm up the truck and dress the children...I ran outside at 12:13 and was back in within a couple minutes. What, do you suppose, I encountered? Brooklyn crying: "Colby painted my dress"! And Colby covered in paint! Aah! Then I was drawn to the "apple crisp" painted carpet in my room! I must be honest and tell you I hollered and almost lost my grip! I immediately grabbed the paint roller that I LEFT OUT last night after I finished painting the kids bathroom, and yelled "what are you thinking"? So in the midst of my panic I did realize this could have been avoided if I hadn't been so dumb and left it out. I calmed down and went into Brook and Colby's room to get her a new dress and found MORE paint on their NEW carpet! I almost fainted! Luckily Heavenly Father blessed me with the ability to to wipe it out of their carpet! How? Nothing short of a miracle! I gave a small effort to get it out of my carpet, but was planning on replacing it eventually anyway. So in a way I was "happy" that it will be sooner than later! As I was scrubbing Colby and telling him not to play in the paint the thought, "This will be great blog entry" came into my mind and I realized that Heavenly Father does have a sense of humor. So in answer to my question, how dumb is DUMB, well you be the judge! Unfortunately, I have done and will probably do some really dumb things that I haven't or won't post on this blog!

Moments like this are when the person my good friend refers to as "Scary Mommy" makes an appearance at our house! I can't believe you didn't lose your cool...good for you! After such an incident, my blog title probably would've read: Mother of Five Majorly Flips Out at Naughty Children and Feels Guilty for Weeks!! :)
Ahhh...the dumb moments. I have them often! You think I would learn, but I haven't yet! It is always the worst when everything is in order and on schedule, then WHAM! Thanks for sharing, sometimes I wonder if these type of things happen to others. Glad everything turned out ok :)
Yes, we can be a little dumb from time to time, huh? But, we can hardly help it-- we are often overwhelmed with tasks and our brains get overloaded with things to remember. I had a crazy day a few mos. ago,(one of many) and as I was putting Alana down for her nap (she's 3)she said, "now go downstairs and say a prayer that you won't be a grouchy mommy." I couldn't help but smile. At least through all the drama and craziness, I have taught her she can pray and ask for help and repent!!
