little knives make little cuts. It was a little knife. I AM OKAY!
So way back in February when Whitney and Russell were going to go on a double date with us we had a little accident at our house. Can you guess who it would be?
What is your guess? Are you right?
Only Colby of course. I had been gone for a few minutes to pick up the babysitter and was greeted by a crying Colby with blood everywhere and Ryan saying he needed stitches! Okay, so I was calm-a quality that I am really developing as a mother! Anyway, I guess Colby was playing with a pocket knife and sliced his thumb. (The details of how he came across it are a mystery...) Whit and Russell came with Ryan and I to the clinic (at 7pm) to have Ryan stitch it up. What a fight! Seriously, with Russell almost passing out because of the blood, me practically straddling the poor kid, and Whitney's overly sympathetic heart it was quite the battle! I wish I had had a camera to capture the fear in his eyes as his Dad came at him with a large syringe and then that nastly needle! Anyway, I thought for sure the kids would hate us. It didn't help that it was bed time. But after three stitches we took him home and he went straight to bed. When he woke up the next morning he said to Ryan, "Thanks for fixing my thumb Daddy" and to me he said, "Thanks for helping me". Oh, thank YOU for not hating us! He was pretty protective of his thumb and had to have a bandaid on for about two weeks. Pulling out the stitches was another fun project! I had Brayden take pictures!
TRAUMATIC!

Poor Colby! How cute though that he thanked Ryan for taking care of him.
Oh, Tonya your kids are darling! I bet it's great to have a doctor in the family for incidents like this! By the way, Jason says hi, he and his wife are having baby #3. Hope things are going well!

What a story!! WOW. How great his own Dad could help him through this ordeal, though! Or was it?! What a little trooper!!
