Brooklyn and Colby Torrie.
If you answered: what are identical twins we need to have a little discussion here. BIG SMILE AND SIGH...So today at the grocery store (as has happened often in the last three years) I was asked if Colby and Brooklyn were identical twins. Brooklyn turned to me with wide eyes and said, "yes"?, and I said to her no because she is a girl and Colby is a boy. Then the lady who was just checking out said to me, "oh, but almost. The only difference is that one of them has short hair and the other has long hair". Hmmm, how do you respond to that? I guess you don't and you just blog about it! So FYI-
i·den·ti·cal
adj.
1. Being the same: another orator who used the senator's identical words.
2. Exactly equal and alike.
3. Having such a close similarity or resemblance as to be essentially equal or interchangeable.
4. Biology Of or relating to a twin or twins developed from the same fertilized ovum and having the same genetic makeup and closely similar appearance; monozygotic

Now please look closely...
So the correct answer would be: what are non-identical twins aka fratenal twins.

I hear ya sista!! Still one of my favorite questions although we haven't gottenit for a while now that they are older. More often then not we get, "They're not twins, right?" since they look soooo different!
That is really funny. It is like you look at them and say...hmmmm Right? I was going to write earlier but I can't believe Brayden is 8. I remember his 3rd birthday. He is one special kid.
That is so funny! People ask all the time if mine are identical. They're not. People used to say, "Oh, because one has glasses and one doesn't." Well, no, that's not why, but, whatever. Now they both have glasses and so it's worse. Never mind that they really don't look that much alike at all. Most of the time, people think my three girls are stairsteps, all about a year apart because one twin is taller than the other. Yours are getting so big and are so cute!
Are you kidding? That is unbelievable to me.
People ask me that all the time!!! My mind is boggled every time because 1)- just like yours, they are a boy and a girl. 2)- McKay is as blonde as can be and has straight hair, and Makenna has brown, curly hair. Sometimes I think people are just trying to make pleasant conversation and aren't really thinking about what they're saying..
Hm I have nothing creative to say, except, did you get your groceries for free because she got the answer wrong? LOL
Aren't people funny? It's what makes life interesting. You're kids are so adorable and maybe that's what made her say that. I don't know. Cute post though!
That's funny. One time I saw a girl in my class, and I told her that I had seen her earlier in the day. She told me that had been her sister. The next time I talked to her I said "I said hi to your sister again today... I don't know why I keep getting you mixed up, it's not like you're identical" and she said "um, yes, we are, we're identical twins..." and I felt dumb. I guess I hadn't looked at either close enough.
But, I would never call Colby and Brooklyn identical twins! BTW, they are so cute! And I can't believe how old they're getting... wow!
Hey Torrie's!! Remember us? We just found you off Julie's bog and thought we would say a little "Aloha". It was fun to see what you have been up too. Abigail and I (Nancy) are actually coming this weekend to the wedding so maybe we will see you. Paul has school so won't be able to come :(. Anyways hope all is well. We will talk to you soon!
Nancy, Paul and Abigail
ps. Oh I talked to Diane to see if she could find someone in the ward with a high chair and play pen that I could possibly borrow for a week while I am there...if you happen to have one of these available, will you let Diane know? Thanks a bunch. xxx
That is really funny, Tonya. I agree with Cami-- I think people are just trying to make conversation and just don't think. Now, try this one: My girls are not twins, and at first glance, really don't resemble oneanother. (one is blonde and very fair, the other a brunette and more tan complected) This woman at the library asked me, "oh they're cute, are they friends?" I replied, "no actually they're sisters." She, looking surprised, asked "And are they from the same DAD?" Now, HOW CRAZY is that??? I was at a loss for words, truly, and just said, "Well, YEAH!" And I actually laughed out loud, out of the sheer shock at the question!! I wouldn't exactly call that one "pleasant conversation" though! ;)
